HISTORY

My Journey

01

From Kobe to Canada—and into the world of web-based systems.

Born in Kobe, I attended Kobe Ikuta Junior High School and Hyogo Prefectural Mikage High School. The Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake struck during the year of my university entrance exams, leading me to give up my plans to study in the Tohoku region and attend Konan University instead. After graduating, I learned programming during a working holiday in Canada. On returning to Japan, I joined a software development startup. Web-based systems were still in their infancy, and the information we needed was available only in English. Having happened to study systems and programming in English while in Canada gave me an advantage.

02

Going independent. Learning through clients’ challenges.

I became a freelancer in my late twenties. Responding to clients’ needs and continuing to learn, I expanded into web security and digital marketing, building long-term relationships directly with businesses.

03

Learning about business—and how people work together.

Through business-owner networks and guest participation in business associations, I have continued learning about management. I was also a member of the Facilitators Association of Japan, exploring dialogue and consensus-building. I currently belong to Rinri Hojinkai, a Japanese business ethics association.

04

At work, at home, and on the playing field.

As a mother of three, I bring an everyday consumer’s perspective to marketing. I also volunteer as the coach of a local children’s kickbase team—even though ball sports are not my strong suit. It is another place to put facilitation and organizational skills into practice, and the children keep me energized.
